In a recent research study, we conducted interviews with leaders from various industries to gather their perspectives on what they would do if they had a magic wand. Their responses shed light on their priorities, challenges, and aspirations. This article aims to provide a summary of the key insights and offer valuable takeaways for leaders looking to enhance their leadership effectiveness.



Key Findings:


  1. Balancing Competence, Engagement, and Passion: Leaders emphasized the importance of finding individuals who possess a perfect blend of competence, engagement, and passion. Navigating the complexities of leadership requires individuals with the right mindset and qualities to meet the diverse demands of stakeholders.

  2. Cultivating a Learning Culture: Creating a learning culture emerged as a top priority for leaders. They emphasized the need for continuous learning and unlimited learning budgets. Having management support and an investment mindset were seen as crucial for fostering a culture of growth and development.

  3. Accessible Learning Opportunities: Leaders expressed the desire to provide broader access to learning resources. Platforms like LinkedIn Learning were highly valued, and expanding access to such resources was seen as a way to empower more individuals within their organizations.

  4. Addressing Global Challenges: When given the power to make a significant change, many leaders expressed a desire to tackle global issues. Their focus ranged from eliminating the COVID-19 pandemic to combating greediness and returning to a time where they could better prepare for such challenges.


The interviews revealed that leaders strive for a combination of competence, engagement, and passion in their teams. Creating a learning culture and providing accessible learning opportunities are key drivers for success. Additionally, addressing global challenges and fostering a positive impact in the world remain top priorities. As leaders, embracing these insights can guide us towards more effective leadership practices and contribute to a better future for all.
