Group By function in Power Query

I have created two videos in which I explore the Group By function in Power Query. In the videos, I illustrate what the function does and show you how to use it. It's a really simple function to use and it is so powerful as it does all of the hard work of working out what to group and how to group it.

Just take a look at the first of the short videos on my YouTube channel.

To whet your appetite, though: from the Introduction to my Excel file:

Part of the data on which all of these Group By examples are based: 8755 rows * 15 columns

This shows just one example of how I used my Group By queries

In part two in this series, you will see more examples

The green table below shows the Group By results of my 8755 * 15 table of data:

The following graphs help us to understand the insights to be gained from the data, too.

You get more ideas in which you can explore what you can do with the outputs from your Group By work in Power Query Part 2.

This second video about Group By in Power Query, illustrates some of the ways in which you can work with the results of your Group By work: it provides some real insights into your data at the expense of little effort!

Example 2: in which I separated my slicers and graphs from the query, found on another worksheet

Example 3, using a Pivot Table
